Help young people in the community by volunteering in 2020

With the New Year approaching, people are starting to think about their New Year’s Resolutions and how they can do their bit.

One of the ways people can help is by volunteering in their community and we’re asking people to get in touch with us if they can spare a few hours per week to help us offer fun drop-in, open access clubs, trips and holiday activities, designed to help build children’s social skills and self-esteem.

We always value any skills that people can offer us, so anyone who wants to support a good cause, helping some of the most wonderful young people, would be very welcome!

We would particularly value those with youth work skills who could help staff our youth clubs, as well as people with administrative or fundraising or finance experience too. We will provide training and complete all the necessary DBS and reference checks as well.

It’s well known that doing good for other people makes you feel good too. It’s very rewarding knowing you have helped someone in some way. Volunteering is also great for your CV and gives you opportunities to meet new people. You can also gain new skills and increase your confidence by volunteering.

Cia Collins from Weston in Southampton, who volunteers for WCYP, said: “WCYP makes such a big difference to the young people living in the Weston community. To be a small part of that is such a privilege as we get to see young people grow and learn and find out more about who they are.”

If you’d like to get to know us, please feel free to pop in to any of our open-access clubs or please give us a ring on 07403 635355 or come and see us at our office.
