Moving On...

It’s with real sadness that I write this blog to let you know that after nearly 11 years I’m going to be leaving Weston Church Youth Project at the end of October. Since moving to Bournemouth just before Christmas, I knew that once I’d settled there I would start to look for other job opportunities closer to home, which I have now done.

When I first got my job in Weston I didn’t really understand why God had called me here –but soon realised He knew better than me and had given me a role that combined my experience and passion at just the right time and through that allowed me to really get to know and love the community of Weston which has grown in abundance over the years.

Seeing young people increase their school attendance, grow in their confidence, develop their abilities and enjoy life more has always been the biggest highlight of what I’ve done and it’s been a joy to support and encourage so many to do this. Many of the young people we work with talk about how WCYP gives them opportunities to do things they couldn’t get from elsewhere, but this has been so true for me as well both professionally in my career development and the skills I’ve learnt and in the fun I’ve been able to have through many trips (meeting Spiderman was a particular highlight!), activities and clubs!

It’s been a real privilege to be able to lead the team at WCYP and help the organisation to grow and develop the work. I have a huge amount of awesome memories from the last 11 years and have made some life-long friends. My last working day is Friday 25th October – please do make sure you come and say good bye. I’ll most definitely be back to visit and will always be the biggest fan of WCYP, it’s young people and the work they do.
